You can make a difference in the lives of homebound people in our community.

Meal Delivery Volunteers

Click to enlarge Riverside Meals on Wheels depends on dedicated volunteers to deliver meals Monday through Friday and offer personal contact to elderly and disabled persons. Volunteers are vital to our program:
They deliver essential nutrition to housebound people in need.
They provide a warm smile and a caring attitude.
They may be the only contact our clients have all day.
They are a safety check to help ensure our client’s well being.

Volunteer your time and use of your vehicle to serve about two hours, twice a month. Packaged meals are picked up Monday-Friday between 10-10:30 a.m. to deliver for the noon-time meal. We have two food pickup locations in Riverside, CA: the First United Methodist Church at 4845 Brockton Avenue; and California Baptist University, at 8432 Magnolia Ave.

Volunteer alone, with a friend, with a group, or we can team you up with another volunteer – whatever you prefer. All meal routes are within the Riverside, CA, city limits and encompass less than 25 miles. Volunteer service is assigned to suit your schedule. No compensation is provided for your time or use of your vehicle, but you will find the experience to be very rewarding! For more information see 2011-Volunteer-Instructions.pdf.

Click to enlarge Adopt a Route: When you adopt a route, you will deliver the same designated meal route two or three times a month. Adopting a meal delivery route is the perfect way for businesses, service organizations, and community groups to serve the community and showcase their organization. You will be responsible for staffing your assigned route with members from your group, securing substitutes if needed, and communicating the assignments to the Riverside Meals on Wheels office.
On-Call Drivers: Volunteers are also needed to serve as substitute drivers on an as-needed basis.

Other On-Call Volunteers
